1. JAVA SUPPORT IS REQUIRED TO VIEW PANORAMAS
If JAVA is not enabled on your browser nothing will appear in the VR TOUR PHOTO BOX. Since all modern browsers currently support JAVA, you might wish to check to see if this has been turned off in your web browser. If so, please enable JAVA and reboot to view the Interactive Panorama pages
No 'downloads' or 'plug-ins' are required to view our Panoramas. Some Corporate/Intranet computers do not have JAVA enabled |
2. WHAT ARE INTERACTIVE 360° Virtual Reality PANORAMAS
Here we have the core appeal of WEYMOUTH PANORAMA as they 'put' the viewer in the position of the camera, allowing the viewer to select with the 'mouse' the angle of view required, through 360°.
Linked to each PANORAMA is the Interactive Map showing the angle of view currently being seen.
CLICK ON THE RED OR BLUE SPOT
The 360° Panorama can be accessed by clicking on a Red Spot on any Panorama Page. You can also access a random Panorama by clicking on any VR TOUR button. (Sounds complicated, but just try it out by clicking on any VR TOUR button on the left of this page)
On every VR PANORAMA page is a Panorama photo, the Interactive Navigator map and a short description of the location.
VIEWER DETERMINS ANGLE OF VIEW
To select the angle of view, or just rotate through the complete 360° field of view, hold the 'mouse' button down to move the Panorama left or right. This gives the viewer an unsurpassed appreciation of what the location has to offer. The angle of view can also be selected by clicking on the 'Interactive Navigator' on the small window map. |
3. HOW IS IT DONE
The camera rotates through 360°, takes a series of still photographs, and these are 'stitched' together to form a continuous loop. Our JAVA viewer then enables the 'mouse' to control what part of the Panorama you see in your browser, linking it to the Interactive Map. In some instances we use a motor driven camera to record the whole scene in one 360° strip. |
4. WHAT ARE THE TOUR BUTTONS FOR?
On most of our pages you will find a number of TOUR buttons. We have grouped the majority of the 360° PANORAMAS into localised areas of interest. Clicking on these will open a random Panorama Page within the locality. You can then navigate adjacent Panoramas via the RED SPOTS on these Pages. |
5. STARTING AT THE MAIN MAP PAGE
This contains the main map of the full area covered, most of which is within the jurisdiction of WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND BOROUGH COUNCIL.
This map is a good place to start from if you are not familiar with the area, or want to find the location of all of our Interactive 360° Panoramas.
Move your cursor into the region you are interested in looking at and click your 'mouse' to to go to the the nearest tour of your choice. A Red Spot will indicate all the 360° Panoramas available on the small map below the panorama. Click on the Spot of your choice to view the Panorama. Close the window to return to the Main Map page for another selection, or click on a link button to move on. |
